Metal Extractor Concept Feature

The idea explored here is using features to create more interesting metal spots. This way they can create a different 'scene' around the spot without actually changing the gameplay. So we want a metal spot that looks totally different than the usual scratch-on-the-surface-revealing-shiny-metal-goodness, but have it work the same.

To give a few concrete examples:
We are looking to create a map, with a Metal Extract Installation already there, but you will have to build a Communications Tower on the terrain to gain control over it.
Also Metal Crystals or a Heap Of Raw Ore could be covering the metal spot, possibly reclaimable.
